Hi guys,
I use Cubase 11 on my desktop since it was launched and I never had any issues with the audio processing dropouts. In general I use Helix Native and some synths and drum samplers. I bought Cubase 12 and installed in on my laptop to have a portable studio. When I run projects from desktop on a laptop I’m getting processing overload every few seconds when I turn the monitoring on even having one track with helix in the project.
Today I decided to try out Cubase 13 hoping that the issue has been resolved but it still persists.
So I decided to install Cubase 11 on my laptop and try once again. You won’t belive me - no dropouts at all!
I use the same UR22C (latest drivers) on both systems and I also tried Focusrite Scarlett on laptop. Since the issue appeared also with Focusrite audio interface I think that there is an unresolved defect in two Cubase versions.
I use Cubase for over 15 years now and never had similar issues with previous versions I used. I bought all of them having trust to the Steinberg. Now I feel bad and don’t want to install newer Cubase version on my main system.
Hi,
Are you on Mac or Windows, please?
I’m on Windows 10. Both systems up to date.
Hi,
Try to test the systems by using the LatencyMon utility, please.
What is Helix?
Maybe this is the problem?
Helix Native is a VST amp modeler. I use it on both systems and in all Cubase versions. It works like a charm on Cubase 11 but on 12 and 13 it’s fine to playback tracks with this insert but it’s impossible to monitor such track.
You talk about Line6 Helix?
Some people reported problems in the past.
Why do you think that the problem is with Helix not with the Cubase? I use it for several years on desktop without any problems. Moreover, when I installed old Cubase on a laptop then there is no issue. Clipping audio processing happens only when I use Cubase 12 and Cubase 13. It does not happen in Cubase 11 regardless of the machine.
OK. So I did another test. I created a new project in Cubase 13 with only one mono track. No plugins used in the project. I turned the monitoring on and saw ASIO clipping. Then I opened the project in Cubase 11 and I there is no ASIO clipping however the indicator called “Maximum” is a bit nervous, similarly to the behavior of C13.
Moreover I installed Reaper on this system and its performance meter stays low and steady when the monitoring is on. It behaves better with Helix applied than Cubase without any inserts. If you prefer I can record a video.
I tried to reach out to Steinberg customer support but somehow they provide support only for several EU countries and not to Poland where I’m located.
Ask the vendor of the plugin.
And I’m very sorry that I answered to your post in the past. Will not do it again.
I don’t care about your video.
Thanks for the contact information. I was searching through Steinberg’s Web page as they are the makers of the Cubase. I just don’t understand why you’re pushing me to bother Line 6. I wrote in my previous email that the issue persists even with no plugins at all. Maybe you missed that part but it doesn’t matter anymore.
The ASIO Performance Meter was redesigned in Cubase 12. You can’t compare its behavior with previous versions. Nor can you compare it with the meters of other DAWs.
Installing Cubase version 13.0.50 solved my issues.
