After a clean install and reinstalling cubase 12, key command suddenly doesn’t work, which I used frequently to expand/reduce vsts on a instrument track.
Does anyone know why?

Yep. Hit Alt+K to close the onscreen keyboard. This will make that key combination to become available again.

Onscreen keyboard is not opened. I opened and closed it with the key command you provided, but after that option E is still not available.
I found the answer. I believe you expect this command to do something it’s not supposed to do. Here’s the context in which this command works:
