Hi, All has been working well with my Cubase 12 Pro and I have made no changes to my computer regarding software or hardware. However, yesterday (22.6.23) when I launched Cubase 12 Pro and clicked on Create Empty in the Hub, the program just froze immediately and would not let me do anything other than kill the program in Task Manager. I restarted the software several times and found that any option I chose from the Hub resulted in the program freezing up. Of course. at each new startup it tells me that the program terminated unexpectedly and gives me options to not include many things like third party plug-ins and preferences but whatever I choose (to exclude) the result once I get to the Hub is to freeze. I have uninstalled fully and reinstalled fully 3 times now and it makes no difference to the end result. I even tried downloading/installing an older version of 12 Pro and the same result. Any suggestions or help appreciated as I need to use the software. Thank you
Hi and welcome to the forum,
Generate a DMP file and share it via Dropbox or similar service, please.
Use Microsoft ProcDump utility to generate a DMP file, please.
-
Please download ProcDump64 from Microsoft (~650kB) and extract the archive to a local folder on your harddisk.
-
Run Command Prompt (cmd) as administrator (right click and select “run as administrator”)
-
Navigate (in the Command Prompt) to the folder with the extracted procdump file.
For example:
cd C:\ Users \ \ Downloads \ Procdump
Note: the dmp file will be written into that folder. -
Launch Cubase/Nuendo. You can work as usual. At any time, change to the command prompt and start procdump, to monitor Cubase/Nuendo for unexpected behavior (see next step).
-
Launch procdump64 via Command Prompt:
Cubase 12:
procdump64 -e -h -t Cubase12
Nuendo 12:
procdump64 -e -h -t Nuendo12
The -h option will write a dmp file in case of an application hang. This might kick in too early sometimes, in case some action takes a little longer. Feel free to skip the “-h” option, if you are only up for fetching crashes.
The option -e will catch exeptions and the option -t terminations of the application.
- Prodump is now monitoring the Cubase/Nuendo process and will write a crash log, in case Cubase/Nuendo crashes or hangs. Perform the action that causes Cubase/Nuendo to crash and send us the generated crash dmp.
ZIP and share the DMP file via Dropbox or similar service, please.
Thank you for your help. I followed your instructions and the result was nothing written to the PROCDUMP folder? In CMD window (after running Cubase incurring the problem and pressing Ctrl C, it said [14:10:26] Exception 000006BA Dump Count Not Reached. Maybe I did something wrong? I launched Cubase and then started the cmd window procdump monitoring and then proceeded to work in Cubase and it crashed/froze up immediately. I then pressed Ctr C to terminate the ProcDump program and checked the downloads folder nothing there other than the procdump program files ???
Hope this helps?
Thanks
Steve
Cubase 12.0.40.317 64bit 2022.9.23 20.48.31.479-freezedump.dmp (914 KB)
The problem is in a Korg USB Midi driver
Did you install a new driver or something around this? The driver seems to hang waiting for something.
I have a NEKTAR Impact LX49+ Midi Keyboard but it wasn’t connected at the time I was experiencing the crashes?
I’m really sorry but I don’t know where that dump file came from. I may have accidentally downloaded it. My system did not produce a dump file. See my comments above. Maybe I did something wrong in the “production” of a dump file? I followed the procedures to create a dump file but when I pressed Ctrl C all I got was a message [14:10:26] Exception 000006BA Dump Count Not Reached ???
So sorry, I don’t know how I managed to download and send someone else’s dump file
If you see my reply on the forum, you will see that the process created an Exception rather than a dump file
Unless I did something wrong?
I appreciate your help as I need to use the software and can’t

Hi,
Update to the latest Cubase 12.0.60, please.
Hi I am using Cubase 12.0.60.
The dump file I uploaded was one I downloaded to look at and accidentally uploaded it, thinking my system had created it. My apologies for such a lapse.
This was my earlier message before I sent the dump file wrongly!
Thank you for your help. I followed your previous instructions regarding creating a dump file and the result was nothing written to the PROCDUMP folder? In CMD window (after running Cubase incurring the problem and pressing Ctrl C, it said [14:10:26] Exception 000006BA Dump Count Not Reached. Maybe I did something wrong?

You should ignore everything in the cmd window, so you do not cancel the process before it’s done. It will eventually tell you when it’s done. Simply follow the instructions Martin gave you in a literal way.
Note also that you receive emails containing the replies to your posts, and replying to them is equivalent to posting manually.
I recommend you not use the email reply method, and simply come to the forum to interact. This way the topic can be less confused.
Hi Steve, appreciate your help and advice. Cubase crashed 10 mins ago and the cmd window is still open with the message Press Ctrl-C to end monitoring without terminating the process. How long before it produces the dump file and tells me it is done?
It this case you should open the Windows Task Manager and kill the Cubase 12 process.
Hi, that’s worked. I now have a zipped file how would I share it with you?
As stated
Hi, I have just discovered that I can open/edit and save files in Cubase Pro 12 providing I click on the Cubase Project Icon .cpr in its respective folder to launch the program AND the project. I can then edit/save and quit Cubase Pro 12. That’s a help because I need to use the software. However, as previously stated, if I try to load Cubase 12 Pro first and then use the Hub to source the project…everything just freezes/locks up. I hope that helps with any diagnosis? Also if I cancel the Hub when loaded and try “open file” from the menu it freezes/locks up too. So the only way to open a file and work on it is to launch the project and program from the .cpr file. It might help me just now but I feel everything I do is a risk whilst there is this underlying problem. Thank you for all of your help with this. It is appreciated, Steve
Hi,
Could you try to disable the Hub from the Preferences > General > Use Hub, please?
Hi, Got into Cubase via a .cpr file, disabled the Hub and closed via quit Cubase. Launched Cubase from the Cubase Pro icon, no hub (as expected) and all/any of the menu options are frozen i.e. nothing operates from the menu??? Only way to quit by Task Manager.
Hi,
Isn’t there any (hidden) window?
