Cubase 12 - Windows 11 - No sound output

This seems to happen so often with Cubase. Working sound drivers. Installed ASIO driver. Connections set to left and right. Studio settings to correct ASIO driver.

Play key on MIDI keyboard. See visual sound being generated in Cubase.

Hear nothing.

Everytime I come back to use Cubase, this problem has killed my productivity.

Last time it was a bad ASIO driver. This time I tried both ASIO4All and FlexASIO with no change.

Any help greatly appreciated (because Steinberg won’t support a 3 year old product, Cubase 12).

What audio interface do you use?

There are known problems with AMD CPUs, Cubase and the RME drivers under some conditions. Using a different USB port can make a big difference.

No audio interface. Just builtin Realtek sound on Asus ProArt motherboard. Intel i9 14900k CPU. I do have a Yamaha UR28M audio interface that I use at work, but this problem exists without using it (at my home setup).

I dont know how reliable these drivers are. Why not use the Steinberg ASIO driver? Once upon a time when I had problems with my sound card didn’t save the output settings I activated control room and then saved the outputs as a preset.
