Hello! I have always had problems with CPU usage in Cubase. There are some tracks loaded, but the CPU usage is almost always 100 %. It is very hard to do anythig with it.
What should i do?
What plugins are you using and vst instruments. These can have a dramatic impact on cpu. Can you narrow it down by removing and seeing what makes it spike. Do you get high cpu with no tracks or plugins? I see you are only using an i5 which may be underpowered depending on what you are doing.
I think for this project I used 5 Guitar Rig 6 plugins, when I freezed them, It started working more efficently.
So I guess I have to replace my CPU?
This was driving me crazy… I have been creating an orchestral template full of individual Kontakt instances. Cubase was using 60% CPU doing absolutely nothing, and ram was at only 40% with most instruments purged. I was getting clicks, pops and no audio at times even when playing just a single VST. Obviously one of my cores was overloaded. What fixed it was going to Studio Setup > Audio System > Advanced and turning off ASIO Guard. CPU usage immediately dropped to 38%. I also have Studio One and it doesn’t have the ASIO Guard feature. My templates always worked fine in Studio One. I was about to give up on Cubase until I found this.
