Hello -
Recently purchased Cubase 13 Pro (like many others with this very nice discount!) Although I’m somewhat new to Cubase (owned much earlier versions many, many moons ago).
I created my first band/orchestra templet. It’s a combination of rock-band instruments and orchestral instruments from various companies that produce “virtual instruments” (VIs). Each instrument is connected to VSL’s Vienna MIR Pro 3D program both for reverb and placement within “3D” field. It sounds great to my modest ears.! (I plan to use this templet for a long time.)
The problem: It seems when every other time I exit out of the Cubase 13 Pro program, it hangs. Because of the hang, I have to “Force Quit” the program, unfortunately.
Here’s my set-up:
Apple’s M2 Mac Studio with 96 GB RAM; macOS = Sonoma 14.6.1; most VIs are stored on a dedicated 8TB external SSD disk array by Other World Computing (OWC), specifically, it uses 4 TB OWC Aura Pro IV SSDs synced with OWC’s SoftRAID (a paid version that’s kept up to date). (I’m a long standing, satisfied customer of OWC products, especially their external SSDs.) And, my audio devise is MOTU’s 828es audio interface (software and firmware are up to date.)
Finally, I save my projects on another external 1TB SSD (also from OWC) that’s dedicated for all of my audio projects. (It’s barely 3% full.)
My computer set-up seems robust enough to handle this larger-sized templet (containing about 40 VIs). It’s not too crazy of a set-up. However, I realize that anything within this set-up can cause this frustrating “hang” time when exiting Cubase 13 Pro. Is it Cubase 13 itself? The external SSD array? VSL’s Vienna MIR Pro 3D program? MOTU’s 828es audio devise? The 1TB external SSD? All of the above? (None of the above???)
Like I said, I really like what I hear with this particular templet that took hours to create. I do know that software programs “hang” or “crash” for any number of reasons. At this point, I’m open to suggestions.
Thank you for your time and your thoughtful suggestions.
