Cubase 13 Pro Kontakt auto-migration

So I managed to fix the error messages, corruption and stability issues, and crashing after contacting Native Instruments. After creating new empty projects and only having a few Kontakt 8 tracks, I would save and close. Then try opening the file again. When doing this with Kontakt 7, the file would crash after opening, then fail to open more than twice. So I’m pretty sure the issue is simply Kontakt 7. They told me to just uninstall it and use Kontakt 8, but now the only issue I’m having is that auto-migration isn’t working. The original corrupted file now opens fine after deleting Kontakt 7. But now I have to go through every track and manually change it to Kontakt 8. It acknowledges that the tracks can’t find Kontakt 7, but they don’t automatically migrate to 8 when they should. Here’s the screenshot, does anyone have an idea if I can fix this? Sorry for making so many topics, I figured this would be a different topic since I fixed the original issue.

Hi,

This is on the plug-in vendor side. It’s related to the plug-in unique ID (UID). If the plug-in vendor decides to assign a new ID to the new plug-in version, Cubase (and other DAWs) sees it as a new independent plug-in (which has nothing to do with the old one). If the plug-in vendor keeps the same UID, Cubase (and other DAWs) sees it as the old plug-in, and it replaces it.

There is no way to go around this.

sorry, im a little confused by what you mean. how do i get it to recognize it as a new plugin? native instruments says that auto-migrating kontakt 7 to 8 works with cubase 12 and higher. should i just contact native instruments again?

Hi,

I’m sorry, I don’t know, what they mean by the “auto migration”.

Yes, if this NI feature doesn’t work, I would contact them.

No worries, thanks for the help anyways. This is a link to what I’m talking about. I think what’s supposed to happen is that once I delete Kontakt 7, the instrument tracks that previously used Kontakt 7 would instead automatically change to Kontakt 8 and I wouldn’t have to manually go through each of the hundreds of tracks and load up the Kontakt library with all the right settings. I’ll just try contacting them again.

Hi,

Thank you for sharing. I wasn’t aware of it. That’s a nice feature!

If you double-checked the paths, it should work. If it doesn’t, I would really recommend getting in contact with NI.
