Cubase 13 pro verification won't recognise my Cubase 11 E-licenser

Hi, I keep hitting a brick wall with license verification for my Cubase 13 pro upgrade.
I have a valid Cubase 11 Pro license on an e-licenser and although I’ve activated Cubase 13, it won’t verify because when it opens up the e-license control centre my 2USB licensers are greyed out (with a red “no entry” sign).
I’ve contacted support but that takes forever and the license is due to expire.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Hi,

Are you sure, your CUbase Pro 11 license wasn’t updated to Cubase Pro 12 (thanks to the Grace Period for example)? How exatly is the license named on the USB-eLicenser (full name), please?

Hi - interesting solution.
In the e-licenser it says: Cubase pro 11 (Grace period eligible) …but I bought the 13 Pro upgrade (from Cubase 11 and earlier).
I don’t have 12 activated.
I’ll hunt around though…
Thank you.

Hi,

You got Cubase Pro 12 for free.

Start Steinberg Activation Manager, click on the user icon, and get your Grace Period Cubase Pro 12 liense.

Ask fo refund of your Cubase Pro 11 update and buy update from Cubase Pro 12.

Yay!!
Thank you. That was weird but it worked!
You reminded me that I tried to upgrade to 12 ages ago but it just kept freezing when trying get the download code. I lost the will to live and forgot about it.
I think it says something when I can build 2 high end PCs for pro music and video but I can’t work out how to get Steinberg licensing to work.
THANK YOU!

I agree it does say something…working on my issues is driving me nuts…is it diabetes brain, old fart brain or some other unknown cause…licensing should be simple, but it’s not. Activation manager won’t even open…

Hi,

Moste probably, this is the source of your issue. Make sure, you have the latest version installed. Try to reinstall it (as administrator, if you are on Windows).

Thanks for the response Martin.
Yes that does seem to be the issue. I installed Activation Manager on my MacBook on Monterey 12.7.6 and it ran fine and registered my Mac…wrong computer for my music tho :-). I have installed and uninstalled many times…pretty sure its the latest driver…positive in fact. There are some posts about deleting files left after the uninstall but a little worried about trying that. Yup I am on Mac… I so appreciate the response, as I am rather upset about the potential loss of so much software and stuff I have bought since running CuBase, Native instruments etc. Anything but CuBase seems way way less for me. I am thinking whether I get this sorted on this Imac or step up to M2 on a mac mini, I will update to C13 and leave it at that. The changes are making my head spin re licensing…but I am CuBase addicted. Lifes running out tho, so if I get it sorted, that will be that for me. If I am understanding the licensing change info…I had updated to 12…and was happy as a pig in mud, and everything worked…until the IMac died. I realise I have to sort all this by the end of the year.
Again, thanks Martin.

Hi,

Once you double-click the Activation Manager icon, can you see the application is jumping in the Dock? Can you see it in the Activity Monitor after?

You can also try to force quit it from the Activity Monitor and then start it again. Or you can restart your computer and start it immediately after the restart.

Hi Martin.
It jumps in the dock 2 x then goes to a blank splash screen, and that’s it.
Have tried all those options…
Appreciated

Hi,

Do you use any application/utility to change the graphic card setup? Could you try it on another screen?

If it ends up on the white screen, does it freeze like this or crash after?

Thanks Martin, I have rebooted the machine back to Big Sur which was native on that machine…and see if that all works.
Appreciated…
Hadnt done any changes around graphics card, and it didnt work on another screen.

It froze on the white splash screen…while Cubase was loading and got stuck at licensing stage.
Quitting out of that the pop up saiys no valid license found.
So having bought this old IMac to replace my dead one…I will see if it all works again on big sur…but will probably return the IMac as hopefully I will upgrade for the last time to C13…which wont run on Big Sur. So thank you Martin…I will drop what happens in here for curiosity…its always good to know what happens.
Thank you for your energy and help.
