Cubase 13 stuttering audio play

Hello, I have a problem with cubase that looks like this:

  • Everything works except audio playback
  • Audio in every other software works fine
  • Loud clipping and stuttering with laggy playback
  • There are NO spikes in CPU usage
  • There are NO spikes in RAM usage
  • I can not open control panel in studio setup
  • This only happens with only certain projects

My set up:

  • Cubase elements 13.0.55 build 328
  • Audient ID24
  • Windows 10 pro 64bit

Is this a new problem (i.e. it once worked but now doesn’t?) Are the buffer size and sample rate the set correctly, changing per project, or mismatched with the audient? If you disable project plug-ins does it stop? In Studio Setup, what is your audio system? ASIO or Audient?

Don’t think this is unusual for Audient, open the panel from it’s own shortcut and adjust buffers there.

  • This only happens with only certain projects

What’s happening in these that isn’t in others. More tracks, more plugins, specific plugs loaded that aren’t used in working projects??

The problem seems to be in using 96kHz, no matter the buffer size it does the stuttering. I tried converting the project to 44.1kHz and everything suddenly works.

Can there be an issue on the Audient ID24 settings? Something missmatched between the DAW and the Interface? Since I cannot open the studio panel in Cubase and adjust everything in the Audient app, I cannot verify if everything is synced.

It is a new problem that started occuring after the switch to Audient.

I cannot open studio panel in Cubase, but the audient app seems to change buffer sizes and bit rates inside the DAW as well. I am new to the Audient ecosystem and I find it a bit confusing. Any tips?

  • Make sure you have the audient driver installed and selected (Studio > Studio Setup)
  • Set to 96khz in audient software
  • Set cubase project sample rate to 96khz (project > project set up)
  • Get in touch with audient forums
