Cubase 13 will not update

I have Cubase Pro 13 (13.0.41) installed on my system (windows 11). If I try to update to Cubase 13.0.50 or Cubase Pro14 using the download assistant I get the following error message:-

The Steinberg Download Assistant can not download Cubase 13.0.50 - Application (required).
Please contact you local support team.

I would be grateful to discover what I am missing and how to proceed.

If you are on Windows, make sure your Cubase 13.0.41 is installed on the system C drive, please.

It is definitely installed on the C drive.

I am a longtime Dorico user (since version 1) . I am not a Cubase user but took advantage of the recent discount offer to purchase and get to know the product and, as yet, have not created any projects. I don’t know if this is relevant.

Hi,

I would try to reinstall Cubase 13.0.41, or you can install 13.0.50 as a full installer. I would recommend to install it as administrator.

Thank you, Martin, for your interest.

I have tried a new install of Cubase 13.0.50 from the Steinberg web site and that didn’t work with an error message about an unexpected string error 2503. I will do a backup of my (working ) 13.0.41 and try reinstalling it to see how I get on.

I have tried the suggestions that are listed and the result from scannow is as follows:-

Which does show some corrupt files being corrected. However, after rebooting I then tried to install Cubase Pro 13.0.50 but got the same “The Installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package.the error code 2503.”.
I tried the other suggestions including a clean boot but the result was always the same

I am not sure where to go next!

Hi Martin,

Many thanks for your help with this issue. After trying the many solutions suggested, to no avail, I decided to reinstall windows 11, which you can do whilst preserving all settings and data, and that appeared to do the trick. I have now successfully updated Cubase Pro 13.0.41 to 13.0.50 and subsequently to 14Pro.
