Cubase 14.0.10 crashes when unloading mixconsole

Cubase 14.0.10 crashes when unloading mixconsole on a specific project. Happens every time. Had to zip dump file, otherwise: “file too big”
Cubase 14.0.10 64bit2025.2.14 8.34.03.179.zip (2.5 MB)

Hi,

What do you mean by unloading MixConsole, please? Do you mean to close the MixConsole window?

Maybe he means when he closes the project and Cubase says unloading, which I think means unloading the instruments and effects from the project.
I have also had crashes in the same scenario.
Waiting for that Cubase update.

To Tom, you can perhaps try one fix, create a new project with the same tempo and settings, and try import all the tracks from the faulty project. If it works, save as new version and keep going !

Hi,

Did you attach your crash/dumps somewhere, please?

Not for this particular issue my dear Martin.
I don’t report every crash, 1 it takes time, 2 I don’t want to sound as the annoying guy with all the issues
But I will if this issue happens again.

The crash happened in a graphic library from Windows.
Maybe it helps to update your Win10 to 22H2.
Which graphic card are you using?

I mean just what I wrote. Cubase is unloading the mixconsole after I have saved the project, and crashes upon exit. Same issue as hundreds of others are having. I would like you to go through the dmp file to see if there’s a plugin causing it please.

AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT (Sapphire)

madness. The tempo changes a lot, too many variables. If this was a small project, but for this one, not really…

Well I think you can probably import the tempo track too.
To me it’s worth trying, fairly quick to do, but up to you.

OK, I did it. Same result. Crashes upon unloading mixer (which means when attempting to close project, just in case anyone still wonders about that

)
I do not want to contact “technical support” because I have experienced they simply do not respond, or do not come up with any solutions anyways. Steinberg support is, in my experience, just not existing.

sorry forgot to mention: Updated to 22H2. Same result.

Quick question then, do you have a dual monitor setup?
I ask because I had an issue with plugins going blank and freezing Cubase if opened on the secondary monitor…

what on earth… sorry, but that is common. Every pro studio has at least 3 monitors. Of course I have 3 monitors. Not the issue. Keep in mind, this only happens on a few projects. I believe it is Cubase not dealing with a plugin properly, or vice versa. Just need to know which… And also, why. Steinberg tends to claim it’s the plugin developers fault, while devs tend to claim the opposite.

Tom I am trying to help you out and you could write with … a little more appreciative tone, really, you know …
And as much as I do know about studios for having personally setup lots of them, you are missing out on the complexity of computer systems.

So a little more kindness and do check out this post where I highlighted the fix for one of the issues I had. Related to multiple monitors.
If it can work for you, then great, if not, well, I tried. Being nice wins karma points

Hi,

Is this relevant for any other plug-in, or just SampleTank?

Hi Martin, I have the exact same situation with Arturia Analog Lab.
If first opened, or closed, in the second monitor, creates instant freeze.
Possibly an issue with graphics framework.
I just tested it on a blank project and got a dump file.
Cubase 14.0.10 64bit 2025.2.16 9.36.24.823-freezedump.dmp (1.4 MB)

My dual monitor setup is first at the bottom, second at the top. NVIDIA GeForce 1070, Win 10 22H2.
díky moc !

Sorry, apologies, and unappreciative tone not intended. I am actually very pleased you are giving me yourt thoughts. However, in my case, nothing crashes whichever monitor has whichever plugin. It is only during shutdown of the project this happens. And, again, this is only happening on some projects, not all…

Hi,

This plug-in seems to be buggy at this moment. Lately, I see multiple freezes/crashes here, they are in the plug-in. I will have a look tomorrow.

have you had time to look at my dmp file?
