Cubase 14.0.10 Triplet issue

Triplet works in C14.0.5 but not in 14.0.10 …
If you try to write Triplet with 1/8 note as 3:2 in Q: 1/8 or 1/8 Triplet

you get this (for existing and newly written triplets):

checked in MIDI editor, triplet in grid is OK:

Attach a dummy project, for the team to examine.?

OK, here at bars #82, #83 and some other spots …

The problem here is that the notes have a ‘notated duration’ property which is set when you create them in the score editor, change the duration with the note length buttons in the toolbar or use the key commands to nudge start or end in the score editor.

These notes were created with a note duration property of 1/8 note, but are now in a triplet (effectively a 1/12 note). The score editor has to decide which one of 2 conflicting bits of information to use: the notated duration property or the note length. It has chosen the note length which leads to notes being tied into the next position.

There’s a simple fix if this does occur: select the notes and press 1/8 note button in the toolbar.

In order to fix the underlying bug: do you have reproduction steps for how you created the notes and the triplet? I’ve tried creating one here and it works as expected.

I’ve used two ways:

  • MIDI input on the grid from MIDI Keyboard or as Step Input. Grid size (Q) depending on type of triolas.
  • Writing notes in Score Editor, again from MIDI keyboard or as Step Input ; in this case I using Tuple icon from Score Editor toolbar.

Small detail is that I have to click on Tuple icon I need to do twice, for first click nothing happens in Score Editor and sometimes even on second click. Than it helps to close Score Editor and come back to the position again.

Believe me it’s not easy to work with this environment in these days.

Hi Martin,

We’ll need to investigate that a bit further, but there may indeed currently be a problem with starting triplet input during Step Input.
If you switch to the pencil tool, you should be able to draw tuplets and notes inside them with the mouse. I agree that’s not ideal right now, and we’ll look at that with a high priority.
