Cubase 14.0.30 Maintenance Update

I have 22H2 and I tried exe installer. Same thing.

Maybe try what worked for me. Go into ‘control panel’, select ‘uninstall a program’.
Select Cubase 14, but instead of uninstalling, select ‘repair’.

I got a message telling me to direct it to the downloaded .msi file, and when I sent it to that file in downloads, it started installing 14.0.3 right away.
I hope it works for you.

Hey bro. Incredibly, your workaround worked! Thank you very much!

I only hope they get it right next time to avoid all that frustration. :grimacing:

Dear Steinberg Team,

I was excited to use the mouse sheen to scroll through the mixer finally.

However, it’s not working smoothly. Unfortunately, it’s often not working at all.

First I want to tell you what I had really wished for:

Shift Hold + scroll wheel at ANY mouse location should scroll horizontally through the mixer. This should be what everyone would expect, just like normal behavior in 2025!

And with the track pad, you should be able to scroll in ANY direction just like any other app in 2025!

But besides that, the standard function is not even working. When the mouse is over an empty insert for example, you even cannot scroll up and down through the upper region any more.

Also, there may be soooo much space left sometimes depending on the screen, between the strip and the fader section yet you can’t use this are to scroll horizontally! You need to move the mouse over the faders for example to scroll!

Comeon, this is 2025!!!

As a side note: when you press middle mouse button, you can grab and move vertikale VERY smoothly! This is the way it should be with the mouse scroll wheel, too!

Why are you making things so complicated?

And also, all these tiny tiny buttons on hover up, for example when you move over one send, it makes working sooooo shitty, because it’s so small icons that you press all by accident! Just like the pre/post send position. It’s so damn small. And also, wasn’t there the option to hold click some keys on order to open the destination plugin from that send you clicked on?!?! It’s gone?!?!

Pleeeease make the sends not like a fragile egg shell yet something to work with without getting frustrated by accidentally pressing buttons.

And please make horizontal scroll movement better!!! Shift + scroll wheel → from any location!!

Dear sir
In this version I’m normalizing 72 wave events and it reports 5184 events

No one here but us chickens.
Make separate topics, maybe someone from Steinberg might read it. Maybe.

Hi Maarten,

I experienced the same thing. It was on a project with an instance spectralayers 11 on one audio clip. Rendering the clip "making the extension permanent"solved my problem…

Looks like for YEARS people have been begging for something as simple as renaming a plugin. Which is something I believe EVERY other DAW CAN do.

Can we get this to happen in an update? I’m not buying the next version if it doesn’t come in an update.

Yes!

Please give us the ability to assign a ‘friendly’ name to our plugins!

This seems like a relatively simple thing to do. But it would have a big impact for users.

I fully agree. From my personal experience, I barely ever stumbled upon a bug in a way that I would even notice (I guess, I would be a horribly bad beta tester, haha).
I don’t know how it is with Mac users, but the Windows/x86 ecosystem as a whole has always been plagued by compatibility issues caused by an astronomic number of various hardware specs and infinite amount of combinations of all sorts of CPUs, GPUs, mainboards, Audio interfaces and Windows versions, all of which have their own bugs by themselves, let alone when combined with each other.
Under these circumstances it’s bordering on a miracle that a hypercomplex software such as Cubase even manages run on all these millions of heterogeneous machines and systems.
So, major kudos to Steinberg’s talented programmers.

So where can I find recommended hardware combinations, which work perfectly with Windows 11 and Cubase 14? Not talking about the minimum specs provided by Steinberg, but some with more power, memory, etc.?!

Random thoughts:

  • Buying a PC is like the lottery - you pays your money and then you cross your fingers hoping for success.
  • I once bought a “high-end” laptop, which turned out to be so unusable I got a refund. My last 2 PCs have been fault-free.
  • I use Visual Studio, and I’m stuck on the 2019 version because later versions are so unstable, on both my last 2 PCs.

Such is the world of the PC, which, after all, is just a set of protocols, not actually a design, er, thing.

Please Note:
If You Have ANY and I mean ANY Demo Plug Ins…You WILL get the White Noise Burst. I had to LITTERALLY Go through my ENTIRE Library of Plug Ins and Delete Every One of my Demo Plug Ins. Most…I got when I purchased a Plug In. Plug In Alliance is the Worst.

The VST3 icon is off the screen again, this happened before. I can’t tell if its the VST3 or 2.4 im using. You broke it, fixed it now have broken it again…

So not a Cubase issue after all.

I upgraded yesterday to 14.0.32. From 14.0.10. It took over an hour for Cubase to open and a load of my plugins are now stuck in the blacklisted folder when then shouldn’t be. I had issues my software telling me that I had no licence was found yet i was signed into all of my Steinberg apps. This shouldn’t be happening now the E-licencer has been shut down. I was connected to the internet as well is what galled me. Anyway it eventually let me in. But I have plugins like Ujam, Retrologue, Vintage Stomp Pack (about 12 plugins in all) , Padshop, Amplitube 5 all major labels and Steinberg plugins. I tried to get Retrologue reactivated. I took nearly an hour. After the window closed down i went back to look at the plugin and it was still blacklisted. I had no problems with the previous version of Cubase so what has happened to muck my system now? It has to relate to the most recent update as I had used Cubase just before and all of my plugins loaded perfectly. Any Ideas or easy solutions would be gratefully received.

Sorry Second Issue is every time i move the mouse over the screen or buttons etc I keep on getting little popups to tell me what they are but they won’t fade away and can only be removed by moving the Tracks.

Third Issue you will see from My Blacklist is that there are a load of Izotope plugins that Cubase can’t load onto the relevant section. Has Steinberg blocked these on purpose? See picture Attached.

It looks like you need to reinstall the plug-in vst3 versions. Cubase 14 does not support vst 2 the same way it used to.

I have reinstalled version 14.0.20 again and it whizzing through all of the plugins that got stuck on the blacklist. I know that SB is cutting support for vst2 but i read that you could still use them in CB14. The shut off date isn’t just yet bit like they gave 2 years warning about the e-licencer being shut down. Providers who supplied people with VST 2 plugins will i assume supply new plugins and installers like SB did with their Symphony orchestra so that it is VSt3 compliant. SB cant just shut down VST2 immediately. They have to prepare for this in association with other providers. I did find the VST2 button at the bottom of the screen which some people missed the first iteration of CB. I had ticked that. But I don’t understand Izotope would have been blacklisted.

VST3.0 was released in 2008, 3.5 in 2011. The implication of a new release is that the old versions will no longer be supported. Software houses have had 2025-2008 = 17 years to prepare. That seems plenty generous to me.
