Opened a new project to create a new template, added some tracks but did not do any audio or midi recording. Just empty tracks.
I modified the Project Colors, assigned some new colors to some tracks then saved the project. So far so good. However when I come to Quit, Cubase splashes a whole bunch of error screens (maybe 20 or 30) and then closes.
I looked at the dump and it indicated a problem in user32.dll… so I overwrote the preferences with the ones I had from Cubase 13 and restarted ok.
However if I go and change a tracks color, save the project and then Quit, the same error windows gets splashed. So staying away from changing colors for the moment.
Too fast to do a screenshot so took a photo. Hope this helps.
I’ve been trying to reproduce it “consistently” but not managing every time. However there also seems to be some interaction (my impression) when also enabling/disabling VST2 plugins in the plugins manager… in addition to modifying and assigning project colors to tracks.
Leaving the plugin manager VST2 “disabled” seems to stop the crashes happening, I feel.
The crash happens after tear down of the channel “gVOX”, containing:
Lindell 80 Channel
SPL IRON
Maag EQ4
CORE EQ
kHs Limiter
Don’t know if/which of those are eventually VST2, but removing the plug-ins above one by one from the project might help to find the one making trouble.
Hi Martin. I did some investigation myself and found that the Nomad Factory Bus Driver VST2 plugin was the problem. Just trying to remove it caused the crash. I ended up uninstalling it, starting Cubase and opening the project that correctly reported the plugin missing. I was then able to remove it from the insert slot it was in and saved the project correctly.
