Me too.
I submitted a report request via email, where it was explained to me that I had downloaded certain groove agent content sets that I had not purchased, which is why there were items in the media bay that I could not access. The fellow I corresponded with was very friendly and helpful. Got a wonder if Steinberg has factored in the number of man hours required to explain this too confused customers like me.
Its not that hard really. You have a specific area for YOUR purchased content, and everything that comes with it. Anything in the āuserā area is good to go. Click on a product, everything you own a license for is right there. Once you start moving into individual product categories, thatās on you to make sure you have a license for it, otherwise, welcome to demo/trial territory.
Its a ādownload assistantā. Its just a tool to download the software. Its up to you to keep track of what you own and what you donāt. Hell the SSL manager lets me install whatever I want too, doesnāt tell me if I have a license for anything or not. If something is in the Groove Agent, or Halion tab, and you donāt own GA or Halion, why would you download the content? If you only bought Cubase, everything you need is under the Cubase entry, donāt wander outside of that unless you bought something else.
Its not that hard really.
The number of threads on this topic, which increase every time thereās a major version release, would suggest that there is a significant amount of user confusion over this, enough to justify clarification in the UI for the Download Center.
That this is not hard for you personally doesnāt change that. User design should never be about āit seems to clear to me, so that should be good enoughā. Because people donāt all think the same as you.
Chris
You are looking at the Steinberg Portal for their entire product lineup. Itās not meant to be the online product catalog for you to pick and choose what to install. If you want to demo something? Sure have at it. Otherwise its meant to download the products attached to your account in that little section at the top that is clearly marked as your own purchases.
What product did you just buy?? Was it Cubase?
Thatās easy, either go to your user area and download what you actually own in your account, or you go to the Cubase tab and download the version of Cubase you just bought.
Do you now go run to the BackBone area, knowing you did not buy anything called BackBone and start installing everything randomly?
Does the name Cubase sound like Halion?? Why would you go run and install everything in the Halion window knowing you didnāt buy anything called Halion to begin with? Did Cubase tell you anywhere it comes with Halion, or BackBone, or VST Live, or anything? Nopeā¦
Groove Agent is NOT Groove Agent SE. Thereās two letters at the end that clearly differentiate the two products. One is actually listed with the Cubase contents and has everything that belongs to it right there with it. The other is a completely separate standalone product and has nothing to do with a Cubase license, and lives in its own spot away from Cubase in the Download Assistantā¦
The SDA has been this way forever, and paying attention and using common sense can save lives too, people should try it once in awhile.

Every year, someone starts this thread. And each time, thereās someone like you that insists that weāre the ones doing something wrong. When fully explained at length, most people will respond āOkay, I see what you meanāthey could indeed make it more clear, I agreeā.
You asking (above) what I bought means you didnāt read the original post (either at all, or not very well). so Iām not interested in going through it all with you.
Iāll just say that these complaints year after year donāt happen in a vacuum.
If youāre not a user design expert, you should just accept that thereās something here that you donāt understand. If you need further clarification, it wonāt come from me, because I already explained about how there are people who donāt think like you (and indeed, there are lots of ways of thinking), but that didnāt seem to get through to you.
Ciao.
