Cubase 14 - Komplete Kontrol A25 MIDI Controller - How do I assign Mod Wheel from CC1 to CC11?

Hi all,

I’m new to the Komplete Kontrol keyboards; I just got the A25. I cannot for the life of me, find an easy way to assign CC11 to either the Mod Wheel or any of the knobs on the unit.

I need to do this for the PLAY VSTi, and other VSTis that are not mapped with KK A25.

I tried to get it done by the stand-alone controller editor, but no joy.

I tried to map the wheel and one of the knobs to the MIDI Remote function. But the assignments available didn’t give me an option to assign CC11 to the wheel or knob.

Can anyone shed light on this? I am looking for a super easy way to do this.
I found kind of an answer at the ‘Club Cubase’ videos, but it is way too long-winded.

Why? From what I remember, we can use this to setup whichever CC message we want. The idea is to store our assignments to a page of a template, which we have to recall to our controller.

EDIT: I think there’s a misunderstanding here. Did you use “Native Instrumenrs Controller Editor”? This is not how it works. Assignments to the MK2 series is done from inside Komplete Kontrol in standalone mode.

EDIT 2: I just connected my KK MK2 just to check. Shame on me, the modulation wheel is not customisable. Disregard my advice, sorry about that.

So, maybe you could succeed by using the input transformer from inside Cubase, or if you have BOME MIDI Translator, by changing CC1 to 11. Other than that, there is a solution using the MIDI Remote, however it involves adding a loopBack MIDI Port so I wouldn’t suggest getting into it.

Hey, thank you so much for looking into it. Having researched it further, from what I can see, the CC11 has been assigned to be modulated by an external expression pedal…

I just think it’s such a bizarre thing to not be able to assign whatever CC you wish to any of the knobs. I must admit, I just bought the thing, and it is a fantastic piece of gear.

Instantly connected with Cubase and can control it pretty well. Just perplexed by this lack of flexibility.

Will look deeper into it, but the CC11 has been assigned to, as I said, an external expression pedal, by default.
