Cubase 14 Mixer WIndow Bugs and Crashes

Hi all,

I bought Cubase 14 and I have used Cubase for many years. I’m very used to how it is supposed to work. I love this program, I like all the enhancements and new features for version 14 but man this version is incredibly unstable and I have mainly problems in relation to the mixer window. I can get it to appear about 50% of the time when I press F3. Sometimes it won’t appear at all and nothing brings it back. I’m getting a lot of crashes. I am pretty pissed to be honest. I feel like we pay hard earned money to be a beta tester for this company. Why do I buy a software that I love and want to support but it doesn’t work? Come on you dumb dumbs stop running your business this way. If I did this sort of work I’d be fired from my job. Now someone please help me.

Also if I release the mixer window from full screen and try to move it around or size it smaller, it completely bugs out. I can’t make it smaller inside my desktop. I can’t drag it around, causes all sorts of graphical artifacts around my screen.

This is so distracting, I am trying to mix a project I started in 10.5!

By the way, there are a lot of things about this version that annoy me, as did 13… For example. The new feature where we can highlight parts of a waveform and alter the volume is nice. I used to do that by snipping the selection into a smaller chunk and altering the volume that way, so this saves a step, but now we don’t have overall waveform volume control for a clip at the top of the clip waveform? So annoying to add cool features and take away features many of us are used to using for a decade… I felt the same way when the way we always, always used to bring the instrument editors up changed. Why? Why change these basic features many of us who have been using Cubase for our entire lives are used to, and add new ones that break the software? Why take away something as useful and simple as overall volume control for a clip waveform? Now I have to highlight it and go up to the top bar to alter “volume”. Why change something this useful and basic? It’s silly. It’s like you guys are sitting around thinking of things to mess around with in board meetings so you can charge us an update price. Seriously. Stop taking away useful features.

By the way, the new UI is not better!!! Since the big change in 13 I still feel like I’m squinting all the time and am just sort of distracted constantly by looking around for things I used to know like the back of my hand… Why change something so important that no one asked for?

I just paid $150 to upgrade from 10.5 to 13, then 13 to 14. Honestly you can buy Logic X for $200. Now I hate Logic but that isn’t the point. Am I paying to be a beta tester? That is what it feels like!

Steinberg, get your act together!

Not knowing your OS and other specifics here is a first approach to adress your issue with the mixer (runs perfectly fine here btw): It might as well be that the user preferences are messed up from former versions and that this is the reason behind the mess.
In order to temporarily disable user preferences: Launch Cubase and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift (Mac Cmd + Opt + Shift) and then “disable program preferences”.

I totally get your frustration, I really do! However, borderline ranting usually leads nowhere. Just my 2 cents on this one.

Greetings to MIDIBoss from General MIDI
