Cubase 14 Mixing Console Select All

Hi,
there seems to be a bug with the nice new mixing console, because its not possible to select all e.g. 32 channels with holding the shift button anymore. Im working on three identical 27" Dell Monitors.
Has anyone experienced the same problem?
Best wishes

Hi,

Do you hold the Shift key on your computer keyboard, or do you use any Remote Device?

Hi Martin,

nice to see any reaction.

Yes of course I hold the shift key as I always did in Cubase 13 and before. I mark the first channel in the mix console and then mark the last channel holding the shift key. Only about 75% of the channels are selected, the rest stays unselected.

No, I deactivated all remote devices, although I have some midi remote scripts installed.

Meanwhile I found out that if I select all channels outside of the mix console, all channels are selected even in the mix console.

But this workaround should not be the normal process of selecting all channels.

I hope this wrong behaviour will be dealt with.

Best wishes,

KaGe

Hi,

Please, do you hold Shift of your computer keyboard or at any hardware MIDI Remote Device?

Does it mean, some track types are not selected? For example VCA, or Groups, or…?

Does it mean, some tracks/channels were hidden?

Hi Martin,
here I am again.
I added some screenshots to make the case more obvious.
In the main console view in my excample I only have audio channels (of course there could be instrument channels as well). Holding the Shift key on my computer keyboard (and keep on pressing it) I normally can select the first channel and the last on and every channel is selected. In my screenshot they only can be selected up to 30 (75%).
I have a seperate group view, all 16 groups can be selected, even in Cubase 14.
Then I have the 16 Stereo Outs all shown on my first Dell monitor. This is strange: here I can select only one channel with my shift key method.
So the whole phenomona isn`t due to too many channels in my main view.

All these methods could successfully be used in Cubase 13.
Any idea?

Looking at your two last screenshots, it seems that you have a MIDI Remote device in use, as @Martin.Jirsak suggested.

What happens if you set it as not connected ?

Hi cubic13,
I now have deactivated my Midi Remote scripts (see attachment), but the problem still exists.
Please go on making suggestions.

I have tested this on a project that has 10 input channels, 31 group / audio / instrument / MIDI tracks and one output channel : all the imaginable combinations tested, no matter the channel types involved are selected as expected, here, using the Shift key. So, it’s not the amount of channels used that could be the culprit, AFAICS.

Have you tried to relaunch Cubase in safe mode, keeping all Remote control related stuff out of use ?

Hi cubic13,
I restarted the default project, no Midi Remote device is on. I dont know what you mean with "safe mode". What I want to do is simply what it says in the manual "Selecting tracks" ![2024-11-11 08_17_12-Cubase_Pro_14_0_Operation_Manual_en Selecting tracks|690x449](upload://lA8CpHzZVt4EFDmYJgBsq0nFDOq.png) Now I even have found out that selecting several tracks (not a certain range of tracks) using Ctrl also doesnt work here.

Here is the upload again

Look here for more explanations : it’s a ‘classic’ way to solve more or less ‘inexplicable’ issues with Cubase. I would try this with the Disable program preferences option.

Hi cubic13,
I started Cubase 14 in safe mode, but nothing changes while selecting a continuous range of tracks.
Sorry

Hi,

I can see the white line on the Channels, which shows us that you are definitely using any kind of Remote Device. It’s probably not a MIDI Remote Device, it’s maybe a Mackie Control.

So my question still remains: Do you press the Shift on your computer keyboard or a hardware remote device?

How they are connected together? As one desktop across all three monitors?

Good morning Martin,
I don`t use a Mackie Control device, but maybe I could deactivate something in the genceric controller, I will see.
Using three Monitors, one with hdmi, two with dsp, having activated HDI inside cubase, I use all of them as one Desktop, being able to work with the mouse continuously from left to right (normally).
I use a new Logitec computer keyboard and press the shift key.
Thanks for your interest,
KaGe

I took a look at the Generic Midi section, but no midi device is connected.
But of course there are other Midi devices connected via usb.
I could remove them. But I tell you again, it all works in Cubase 13 and version 14 copied all entries from there.

How did you configure that?

Nvidia and AMD offer solutions where the three monitors are used as one big screen. These tools are known for problems with hot key assignments in various programs. They introduce their own mappings. And there is an intel tool that can apply settings for Intel graphics with shortcuts as well.

Hi st10ss,
I am using an AMD Radeon R7 200 Series graphic card and definded all three Dell monitors to act from left to right as one desktop (see attachment)

Because I used to work like this in Cubase 10,11,12,13 I still don`t think that is a problem in my system. Cubase 14 simply reacts here not as intended when I try to select a continuous range of tracks.
Is there anyone who uses three monitors with Cubase 14 and you can select all tracks in the mixing console by pressing Shift on your computer keyboard?

Hi guys,
I don`t know what caused the problem (although I tried to find out), but now selecting all tracks in the MixConsole works fine, even in Cubase 14.
Thanks for all your contributions.
If I find out, what the reason was, I will tell you.
Best wishes,
KaGe
