Cubase 14 modulator "snappiness"

I looove the new modulators in Cubase 14 - I’m using them a lot, mainly to replace LFO Tool which is VST2 only.

An issue I have is that there seems to be some kind of interpolation or smoothing, so for example if you have a sawtooth shaper which is meant to go instantly from the highest value to the lowest, it seems to smooth out that transition which makes it far less usable. It’d make more sense to make it snappy but let the user alter the shape to add smoothing if they want.

Anyone else had this issue?

This is a sawtooth note using the Volume plugin modulated by a square wave LFO:

I had a similar issue with pitch modulation. I used the new stepmodulator to modulate legendhz osc pitch. The result always had some smoothing. (Eventhough using square mod). I wrote about it in a forum topic here. The solution for me was to modulate the matrix amount knob in legendhz instead of directly modulate osc semi. This gave me the result i was after = instant pitch change.

I like the modulators alot. But i’m still having some trouble with retriggering on midinote on. Try to do a fast Arpeggio with the stepsequencer. (Set rate to hz) and do some chiptune arpeggio with a couple of identical short notes in the midi editor. The notes in the stepseq retrigger sometimes at the wrong order. The old ArpacheSx midieffect feels much more solid in that department.
