Cubase 14 pro on M4 Mac Mini - Not able to record audio tracks!

I’ve very recently upgraded from Cubase 10.5 Artist on an intel iMac to Cubase 14 Pro on an M4 Mac Mini. Since my upgrade I can no longer record audio tracks (i.e. live instruments). I am using a Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 3rd Generation digital interface and a Beringher Mixer. I can see signal being received in both the 4i4 and the mixer, but when I create an audio track in Cubase I get nothing! All connected correctly vis usb C inputs. My input and output audio connections clearly show the Scarlett 4i4 as my aios driver. I can happily record intrument tracks, but whatever I do I don’t appear to be able to record audio? Can anyone please help??

Have you given Cubase write permissions?

Hi - I’ve since resolved the issue. I hadn’t been aware that I needed to go into my privacy & security settings and allow Cubase 14 use the microphone. It was a simple process that I haven’t had to do in previous versions of Cubase, but once I gave permission, all working fine now.

To be pedantic, it’s a MacOS requirement, not a Cubase requirement. I only say that in case you install new DAW/Audio components you’ll have to do that again. MacOS typically prompts you for validation when an app requests controlled components like that, FWIW.

Get prepared, you’re going to have to do things like this for quite a few things now. MacOS has changed quite a bit just over the last 3-4 years in this regard.

You can’t even connect a basic USB hub now without allowing it permission to connect, so keep that in mind, and get to know the Privacy and Security preference pane well haha. My downloads go to an external drive so I use the internal SSD as little as possible, when I even click on an installer to update a plugin, have to give it permission to use external drives just to read it, and have to let it access the network, etc..

They’ll even reset the trusted device cache between minor version updates too, which suxx0rz for us clamshell MBP guys who, ahem, didn’t necessarily position the, ahem, laptop in the best possible place for such things
