Cubase 14 Saves at Song Song- 01, and Song-02

Hardware

12core 64gb RAM, 16gb GPU, 4tb hard drive

SSL 12 for audio interface

Software

Cubase 14

SSL Native Channel Strip 2 amongst a few others

Mentioning what I am working with to hopefully paint a clearer picture. I’m certain this isn’t a hardware issue.

Here is what happens. Every time i make an effort to use the Channel strip 2 from SSL the project I am working on “crashes”. I can remove the plugin from whatever track I put it on and keep working but whenever I get ready to save it… if the project is named “Song” then I get a notification saying it will be saved as “Song-01” and this continues to increase every time I open the project and try saving it again.

I have roughly 15 SSL plugins and they all work perfectly except the Channel Strip 2. The fix for that is to open up SSL’s 360 software while using Cubase and then the Channel Strip 2 will work as smoothly as the other SSL plugins.

The question that I have is how do I fix my project always being saved as another backup file?. I have tried Saving as a new project and that did not work.. Trying to save it and overwrite the initial project file doesn’t work.

Any tips?

Thank you in advance

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Attach the *.ips/dmp file(s), please.

  • Mac: macOS Console utility > Crash Reports (or ~user/Library/Logs/Diagnostic Reports).
  • Win: %userprofile%/Documents/Steinberg/Crash Dumps

Most probably the crash will be in SSL. Therefore I would get in touch with the SSL support.
