I recently changed from Cubase 12 to Cubase 14. In all of the versions I have used previously I was able to find an option to show staff names from tracks in the score editor. I can no longer find that option in Cubase 14.
Yes. The score editor is completely different. I believe you can name the staves in the score editor anything you want or an abbreviation. It’s all in the menus on the left.
By default the staff labels show the instrument names, but you can manually change them by opening the Instrument Settings (which you can find via the Settings button for each Layout / Instrument tab).
We are also considering an option to instead show the track names, but I can’t give any specific promises when we’ll be able to prioritize that.
I would love to be able to have the option of using “Track Name” as “Full Name” in the Layout/Instrument menu. +1 for developing that!
Right now I’m manually changing the “Full Name” and “Short Name” fields on an orchestral piece before I export to Dorico, and it’s pretty time consuming
