I just installed Cubase 14 and it’s taking a long time to load a heavy project. It keeps getting stuck in “Loading MixConsole”.
In C12, it used to take a long time (20++min).
I managed to reduce it to about 4min after I added some exclusions in the Virus & threat protection, such as excluding Cubase 12.exe
But after I installed C14, both C12&14 takes a long time to load (about 29min).
Managed to reduce it to about 8.5min after adding Cubase14.exe exclusion in Virus Protection, off the “Automatic License Management” in Steinberg Activation Manager Settings and “Repair” Waves plugins in Waves Central.
I’m only using basic plugins like Waves CLA-2A or F6 EQ, V11, in the project.
Is Waves V11 plugins affecting C14 load times? (Updating them will cost a small fortune).
Anyone has any advice or suggestions to improve project load time?

What happens if you start in Safe Mode with Plugs disabled?
What happens if you start in Safe Mode with preferences disabled?
What is the size of your “heavy project?”
What happens if you temporarily remove Waves?
Any versions of Kontakt in use that may cause slow loading?
Unless there is a reason, I don’t like to do that. Just one example is having lots of disabled tracks in a C12 template. Then in C14 you open the C12 template. Enable tracks. For me often times the colors are all wrong. Output routing can be wrong. Over the years it seems best to stay with the project you started with unless you are really missing a new plug or new feature.
It’s close to BF. Sometimes, actually purchasing a new Waves bundle, even though you have the identical bundle less any updates, is less than upgrading what you have licenses for. While you can go on line and attempt to figure the cost, I have found it beneficial to call Waves sales and explore every option they have. Some promotions you may not know about and are not very noticeable to the public.
