Cubase 14 unusable because of latency and cutting out

Hi, I’ve just bought Cubase Elements 14 but I can’t do anything in it.

The latency issues with my guitar plugged in is too much to play. I’m getting about a second or so lag every time I play. On top of this, the audio cuts out at irregular intervals barely 5 seconds apart.

Reducing the buffer size does nothing and Adjust for Record Latency is checked. I’ve just switched over from Reaper and I had none of these problems with it.

Does anyone have any ideas for how I can make this program usable?

Hi and welcome to the forum!

It sounds like you haven’t yet set up your audiointerface. Which one do you have, by the way? OS?

  1. Open Studio/Studio Setup / Audiosystem and pick the ASIO driver that comes with your audiointerface (please make sure it’s the latest update and your firmware is up to date as well)
  2. Open Studio/Audio Connections and set up your Inputs and Outputs.

Adjust the buffer size if needed and take it from there.

Hope that helps!

Hi, and thanks,

I have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2

I’m using the ASIO4All driver - though I’ve switched to the Focusrite USB ASIO and the audio seems to be playing back fine now.

Weird, that driver didn’t seem to work at all in Reaper.

Thanks! Seems to have fixed the issues :slightly_smiling_face:
