Cubase 14 Window Title Bug?

If you look at the screenshot below, you’ll see that the window title for the insert 1 plugin window indicates all of the same sort of relevant information as the window title for the insert 4 plugin window. However, you may also notice that the font (and the height of the title bar) for the insert 4 window title is smaller than that for the insert 1 window title.

This isn’t a huge problem all on its own, but it does appear to be some kind of bug. It’s also random, as far as if/when a plugin window exhibits this behavior. Most of the plugin windows have the larger font, but every now and then, a plugin window will have the smaller font.

Where this all DOES start to matter to me, is that I use Keyboard Maestro to capture window titles of open plugin windows to then take that information and manipulate various behaviors and control in Cubase. Keyboard Maestro normally has no problem reading these window titles, however, whenever a window title appears with the aforementioned smaller font, Keyboard Maestro also seems to be unable to read the window title for that specific window.

I have no idea why the font randomly appears smaller sometimes, or why there appears to be a correlation between the smaller font and issues with Cubase properly reporting window titles.

Has anybody noticed this behavior, where the fonts randomly appear smaller, or has anybody else observed that there are issues with Cubase properly reporting window titles on Mac OS?

FYI, I’m on a M1 Macbook, with Sequoia 15.5.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Just to narrow down the problem - I’ve never noticed anything like this on Windows with UAD(x). So it might indeed be Mac related.
You should add your Mac version, system specs, and Cubase version to your post.

Added to the original post and here.

M1 Macbook, with Sequoia 15.5.

I’m on Windows and, as @Reco29 said, the plugin titles are different (oriented to the left).
The curious thing about your picture is that the Fairchild title bar is actually narrower and the three dots in the left corner are smaller and closer together, so it isn’t just a font thing.

Yes, the title bar is not as tall. That seems to be correlated with the smaller font. This also affects the open/close dots in the upper left corner. Basically, everything associated with the title bar is smaller.

Another quirk I’ve noticed is that when a window exhibits this smaller title bar behavior, said window also persists in remaining at the front of any other windows which may also be open, whereas when the Cubase windows are acting as they should, you can select which plugin window you want to be at the front.

I could be wrong, but it almost seems like the window with the smaller title bar is opening up but not being recognized by the Mac OS as a sub-window of the Cubase app.

Is Always On Top selected for those plugins, by any chance?

No, Always On Top is not selected for this plugin or any of my plugins. I just double checked.

Interestingly enough. I just dragged the objectionable plugin to a different insert slot. It still exhibits the same problem in that new insert slot. However, when I load up a new instance of this same plugin in the insert slot that I just vacated, this instance of the plugin operates correctly, with the “normal” sized title bar and the ability to correctly report the window title. It seems so random…

It does. The only other thing I can suggest (if you haven’t done it already) is try starting Cubase with preferences disabled. I honestly don’t see how it would be related but I’ve seen people with some funky problems in the past that were resolved by crashing preferences.

Yeah, that doesn’t fix it either. I’m kind of stumped.

I’m not really a Mac guy so my knowledge is limited.
What strikes me as curious is that no other Mac user has jumped in to this thread, which suggests the behaviour is quite unusual.
