Cubase 15.0.30 not loading after todays windows 10 update

When I doubleclick the Cubase icon nothing happens, I checked the task manager…nothing running. Wavelab…the same. I tried installing Cubase again, to no avail. Also affected are Dorico and Halion standalone, however groove agent works fine. Although they do not show in task manager after run comand only Cubase shows and has very high power usage. It all happened after a so-called “windows quality update” yesterday. tried to run the apps in safe mode without success.

Now it is listed with several instances in task manager, stopped them all, still does not load.

Windows 10 only gets critical security updates. I’d load it in safe mode in case it’s a plugin or driver problem.

Next time you get Cubase to hang, right-click it in task manager, and choose “Create memory dump” and then post the zipped up dump here and also share with Steinberg as a bug report.

SOlved! it was Windows visual C++, updated it and everything is back to normal.

Great!

How did you find that out?

I experienced the identical issue yesterday. Click on the shortcut to open C15. I got the windows cycle thing for 3 seconds, then nothing. Nothing showed up in task manager.

There was a Windows update yesterday, but i cant remember if this happened before or after the update.

I uninstalled then reinstalled and back to normal.

Cubase, or the W10 update?

Cubase. I really wish I could remember if I had done the Windows 10 update before or after, but I can’t.

trial an error, I remebered that sometimes when there is a Cubase update Windows visual c++ is also updated, so I thought it was worth a try
