This hotfix has not fixed the intermittent template issue where either they disappear or duplicate.
It’s also not fixed the mediabay issue where old files are still listed, new ones aren’t showing, files can’t be dragged and the folder can’t be refreshed.
New choice for colour schemes is ridiculous. It took 3 hours just to try and get back to the “standard” colour scheme I used in previous versions. Steinberg, come on? Why did you need to change what worked
This is the worst and buggiest Cubase release I’ve ever used. I’ve been using it for 25 years
Despite switching off online content in the Hub (which initially helped), my templates often need around two minutes to show up in the hub when I start Cubase 15.
I wouldn’t expect much from a “point zero point” release. Apart from two fixes which were discussed in the forums related to Expression Maps and the new Hub, the focus seems to be on Dolby Atmos.
Sometimes I also wonder why functions that are used on a daily basis are not subjected to more thorough quality control. I mean, saving a project template a few times and checking whether it is displayed in the list is something even a trainee should be able to do.
Essential modules, such as the hub, are presented to the user obviouslyuntested!
With all due respect, but that’s not really necessary, is it, Steinberg?
So, I tried something with mediabayserver.exe i selected properties “run as administrator” then ran cubase. Cubase struggled on the splash screen and got stuck loading MediaBay for a few seconds. Then started. The mediaBay worked fully but the rest of cubase could not function properly until I removed the “run as administrator” privalage. After this, mediaBay continued to present its bugs of not refreshing or showing files in a folder and not allowing drag and drop. If I modify files in the original folder, they then show up and let me drag and drop. This indicates a permissions issue to me… Steinberg, if you’re reading, I reckon thats a good place to start
someone on a previous thread mentioned the startup hub delay in showing templates is linked to it polling the internet or something. Why this would affect the template fikes on the local hard drive I don’t know. I’ve also read suggestions that mediaBay and the Hub are closely linked. So if the hub cannot see the local tenplate files, then this also sounds like a permissions issue
also found that when I close a project, Cubase itself instantly quits and my Mackie MCU Pro faders stay up and do not reset. If I click the option to re-launch the hub, it gives them time to reset but there is a weird bug then when I try and quit from the hub, the mediabay opens again.
I can confirm MediaBay is broken as it does not work in Cubase 14 or 13 anymore as the same MediaBay install is used by any installed version of Cubase. Steinberg HURRY UP AND FIX IT. It’s bad enough paying £85 for a broken release, some people have paid over £450 as first-time users. This is NOT acceptable!!!
Someone on Facebook has highlighted this bug too “Cubase 15 BUG REPORT
There is no quit button. If I am quitting after closing a project, the media bay and performance monitor stay open. After closing them, the hub comes back. I can then close it with the little window x.
I recall a similar shut down bug a few years ago with a previous version. They eventually fixed it in an update. Anyone else have this problem? Windows 11 here.” Kim Taulbee
Found the reason for the Hub not closing properly is because when the Hub window opens, it auto-enters into the Search bar, ready for you to type. This stops all shortcut and key-commands from working. Wish Steinberg were looking at the forums
Having this same issue and glad I found your thread.
Created two new vst presets for pigments from the instrument preset browser. Created a new folder. Mediabay can see the folder, but no files inside. They show up in explorer just fine. Clear all filters. remove from database, refresh disk, rescan disk etc. does nothing. I can’t get to any newly created vst presets now in any subfolder. If I try to move any files from subfolders into the main vst folder, it loses them all.
I am also kind of annoyed that Mediabay now stays stuck over the top of the project window and now need to close it entirely every time since its on the same monitor. It used to just flip behind any other open Cubase windows.
The mediabay stays stuck open issue is annoying, for me it stays open but behindnother windows so when I use shortcuts to close Cubase, it doesn’t, it reverts to the open mediabay window, acting like a seperate and integrated program at the same time. It also affects, as you say, vst presets. None of my presets for any plugin are showing. They’re ignoring the threads and kust know about the issue. Again I think it’s permissions related as when I find the mediabay program and click “run as admin” it works fine, however, cubase then does not work fine. I use mediabay as a watch folder to drag new drafts into my projects replacing existing files. It’s a really simple process that saves a lot of time. At the moment I have to use the Pool window, import there, search for the folder my files are in, etc etc. And as Ive previously said, theres no way to roll back mediabay as it installs itself as 1 program that serves all versions of cubase so I cant just merely use cubase 14 as the problem now exists there. The last update on 8th December was apparently designed to fix the issue but it has not. If I get a chance I will phone support, but I think they’ll make me jump through the hoops, have you reinstalled a clean OS, have you uninstalled and reinstalled Cubase. The issue, as I said, is permissions based
Check Templates, MediaBay and PlugIn Settings are now showing
I think there’s a MediaBay clash and it’s possible it’s in 2 places at once, otherwise, Cubase would not be able to open the MediaBay window after I’d uninstalled it.
