Cubase 15.0.6 – NI S88 MK3 MIDI Remote / NKS Intermittent

Hi,

I’m having ongoing issues getting my NI S88 MK3 to consistently control Cubase via MIDI Remote.

Cubase Pro 15.0.6 with NI S88 MK3 (latest NI drivers).

MIDI Remote / NKS control works intermittently. When working, DAW/Plugin switching functions correctly and the S88 shows “NKS” in Plugin mode. Most of the time, control does not work despite the device showing as connected in MIDI Remote Manager.

Duplicate S88 entries appear over time in MIDI Remote Manager. No errors in the MIDI Remote Scripting Console.

If I delete:

Documents\Steinberg\Cubase\MIDI Remote\User Settings\
NativeInstruments_Kontrol_S_Mk3_[HEX]_globalmappings.js

then unplug/reconnect the S88 and launch Cubase, it usually works again. However, as soon as I close and reopen the project, the control stops working again!

I’m all out of ideas in getting this to work. Any help would be appreciated!!

Small update. I think I have found a fix. I am using Scaler 3 and have found if I disable the track and reopen the project everything seems to work. I have tried this a few times now, and things seem to be working. It would suggest somehow Scaler 3 is interfering.
