I am on Cubase 15.0.20. I have noticed that if I add any automation to a track (EQ setting, or mix knob of a reverb, for example), then I adjust the volume of that track (through normal mix balancing process), I am automatically getting an automation lane for volume. This is getting annoying. I must have changed a setting accidentally? Can anyone tell me how to stop this from happening? Thanks!
Do you have write automation enabled? If so, and you modify “volume”, modifying a volume automation track seems as expected.
You can toggle off read on the automation track or mute the automation track if you don’t want to use it.
All Ws are off. Even if I turn off R, if I even click on volume, it creates an automation lane. Even if I turn off my Rs globally, it still does this. The exception is my group-folder tracks. I have some automation on the group-folder, but none of the tracks in that folder are doing this. Just the individual non-grouped tracks (all of them). I want the automation (in this case, mix on kickstart 2), I just want to be able to volume-balance without creating a silly automation lane just by clicking or adjusting volume!
C15 has done this really annoying thing where the top automation lane is always volume. It is always there.
Besides this annoying problem you are showing, it gets worse when you import a track from C14 or earlier and the first automation lane is used and is not volume… it still displays the volume fader and it is impossible to tell what the actual automation is for.
So many things broken just so they could put a little volume slider there in the project window… that most will never use.
I feel like I must have done something myself, because it didn’t do this before this current project. I must have hit a hotkey accidentally or something in a frenzy. Or, is this happening to anyone else? If there’s any automation, even without W being active, touching volume (or pan or anything track related, come to find out) it makes an automation lane? Only on individual tracks, not on anything within a folder group.
Before I try the nuclear option of deleting all my preferences or updating to 15.0.21, can someone tell me if this is now normal Cubase behavior? It’s making mixing very difficult as the lane keeps popping up if I move the volume slider. I can hide all automation of course, but I need to see the automations I have done! Ugh… anyone?
it’s not nucular. Start cubase in Safe Start mode, and you can temporarily disable prefs to see if that’ might be the cause. I’l go back to playing my saxamophone now…
Thanks, yes I did end up doing that (safe mode) and it still did this. However, I think I may have fixed it, through toggling things on and off in the automation panel, I currently have it set like this. Turning OFF everything under “last touched parameter” seems to have fixed the glitch. I hope that was it, it seems to be but you never know anymore! Thanks everyone who helped me here!
