[“Crosspost” from Virtual Instruments]
Cubase 15.0.10
HALion 7.1.51.1043
Macbook M3 Pro, Sequoia 15.7.3
Apollo Twin X
18GB RAM
TL;DR: After installing the latest Absolute 7 update, the volume sliders on individual MIDI channels in HALion 7 zero out immediately upon clicking on a MIDI lane or inside the virtual instrument. This seems to only happen inside Cubase, the standalone appears to be behaving okay.
What it says on the tin. Here are some particulars:
- Fresh reinstall of HALion Sonic after Absolute 7 upgrade; also re-installed the Cubase program files.
- HALion channel fader in the MIX tab continuously snaps back to zero.
- Happens with no MIDI devices connected to the computer
- Happens with Cubase just sitting idle
- MIDI signal reaches HALion fine, audio output because of constantly lowering volume slider is the only issue.
- Happens on every file I open, including those that came with Cubase.
- The “R” for “read” automation button is **not ** active.
I can pull the volume slider for the sound all the way up, but as soon as I move the cursor away from the fader, it slams back to zero. The entire time I’m hovering the cursor over the volume slider (not clicking), the old-school-looking MIDI indicator above is it highly active.
My novice-to-Cubase observation is that Cubase seems to be sending some kind of CC automation that is slamming volume to 0, but I am completely stumped. All my other virtual instruments are working fine. and when the volume slider is up, everything sounds great.
Any help would be deeply appreciated. I am enjoying my dive in the Steinberg world of software, but this has me stumped.
