Hey, I’ve been using Cubase 15 since release on Windows 11 and I’ve noticed that the Hub is very slow and keeps freezing. The project preview feature is way to slow so It’s impossible for me to use.
I’ve had this feeling longer on Windows that Cubase is very slow in terms of starting up and closing. Whenever I close a project that has been opened for like a couple hours it won’t close at all. It does unload the project but then freezes so I have to close Cubase through task manager.
When I compare it to FL Studio it’s really slow. Although when working in a project is very smooth and optimized.
Is there a way to make everything smoother? Is it better on MacOS maybe??
My Hub keeps freezing a lot. I have to wait minutes for the preview to actually load and play. The sound of the preview is just normal. Usually my CPU is at like 10-20% when I have the hub open. Maybe I have to go for a clean install of Cubase?
That seldom resolves anything, so I’d hold off on that for now. Try launching Cubase in Safe Mode (hold Ctrl+Shift+Alt while launching) and disable your plug-ins. These are a common source of unusual problems, so it’s good to rule them out. Although if things are smooth when working on the Project (when plugs would most be in use) it’s probably not plugs.
It sounds like the problems you are seeing might be related to disk activity? How do you have those setup for Cubase, libraries & Projects
Hi,
earlier before you mentioned that Cubase, plugins and projects are all installed on one particular disk. Since your project folder is on drive D:\ - is that where Cubase can be found, too? Is it one disk with multiple partitions?
While Project files (.cpr) & sound/content libraries are fine to put anywhere, the Cubase program itself prefers to be installed on your system disk in its default location just like other programs.
A classic way to configure things is to put the Program on the system disk, have a 2nd disk for Projects and the put your libraries on a 3rd (plus 4th, 5th, etc. as you overbuy) disk. This primarily is to distribute the disk I/O around. With a limited number of disks, putting Projects & content on the same disk is the better choice.
In this situation I’d recommend uninstalling Cubase in its current location and then reinstall it on your system disk. Just the program, not the content.
