I’ve been noticing lately that Cubase 15 is moving very slowly; even when switching from one track to another, it takes a bit for the selection to happen; it’s not instant like in Cubase 14.
I noticed while trying to resolve another issue that when booting via safe mode with user preferences disabled, the issue has disappeared. Everything is instant, and even the ASIO latency has decreased from ~90ms to ~40ms. Since then, I have been trying to figure out which setting in user preferences might cause the problem, but I have had no luck. What could the issue be? Do you know of any settings in Cubase that can cause lag?
It is unfortunately not unheard of that Cubase, for unknown reasons, manages to corrupt its own preferences files. Therefore it is a good idea to make a backup of your Cubase preferences once in a while. Sadly, users come to this realization the hard way.
If starting Cubase with preferences disabled solves your issues, the quickest long term solution is likely to delete your preferences. Cubase will then create new, fresh ones, all with default values.
Where do you get those values from? I cannot imagine a scenario where disabled preferences would lead to lower latency, except of course if you had Control Room enabled before with some plugins that introduce latency, and the Control Room would be disabled with new preferences.
Also, what exactly does “moving very slowly mean” precisely?
The one thing that you described, “switching from one track to another”, I think this can happen in certain scenarios where you have “Constrain Latency Compensation” enabled, but tbh, I am not fully sure and cannot reproduce that now.
