Cubase 15 MIDI SysEx Editor Bug making editing SysEx Messages a lot more inconvenient

Unable to move to the next value with Tab when creating System Exclusive Messages with the MIDI SysEx Editor

In Cubase 15 (Version 15.0.5, Build 121 (x64)) on Windows, you are not able to press Tab to easily move to the next value when editing or creating a system exclusive message. Windows instead gives an error sound to indicate that it is not possible, which to me sounds like a bug.

I know this was possible in Cubase 14, since I used this feature quite regularly when writing System Exclusive messages for my Yamaha MU2000.

This is a pretty niche issue, but it is still something that I fully doubt was intended with all of the new UI Changes.

Hopefully this can be fixed in the next maintenance update, Either that or there is something that I am somehow doing wrong here haha.

Can’t really explain with images, but I can try my best to do so.

This is essentially the issue:

Thanks!

You’re right, and I think this was broken before 14 as well. I just use a separate hex editor now to create a file and load it.

Not 100% what you are asking for, but if you hit enter first, you can tab around.

… to edit existing SysEx, but not to create it.

I was going by your screenshot.

For new SysEx, you can hit insert several times to get something similar to what you have in your screenshot, and then navigate through the 00 entries using enter and tab.

Not saying it’s not a bug, just showing there are (less than ideal, but keyboard-friendly) ways around it.

I have many examples of using it, so this was functional in Cubase 14, as i used it quite regularly.

Ideally it should be where you just hit tab and it works, as that is how it worked in Cubase 14.

Correct. That’s why I said it’s not 100% what is being asked for
