Since the Pattern Editor in Cubase Pro 14 is incomplete and practically unusable due to several serious flaws (and was left as such), I downloaded the 2-month trial version of Cubase 15 to see if the update was even worth it.
The Pattern Editor seems to have made some improvements, but I can’t figure out how:
a) Presets: There are presets for the drum machine and presets for the Pattern Editor (some are even identical pairs). Is there a way to load BOTH simultaneously? Unfortunately, this doesn’t work with track presets.
b) MIDI In: Is there really still no usable MIDI input? In other words, can you trigger drums live via keyboard/controller and have them appear in the Pattern Editor? This MIDI step input is… at best, unnecessary.
c) Unfortunately, I must say that there are still serious flaws and inconsistencies in this editor, especially inconsistencies with MIDI parts and step parts (the fact that you can’t even convert MIDI events into patterns in a rudimentary way, or the lack of real-time recording), so I really don’t see any added value for a complete version upgrade at the moment.
