I’ve been struggling with this issue.. which made cubase 15 totally unreliable.. so I had to go back to cubase 14 ..
it starts to lag and eventually crash .. I guess this happens whenever it’s using the GPU for any task.. like when using Supervision plugin for example..
My Mac Studio hasn’t has a single issue with C15 - everything ‘s running perfectly over here. However, there have been some reports that running “Mission Control” fixes this somehow.
It apparently works for people, which I find quite curious, so hopefully it will help you out as well.
no problems with supervision or cubase 15 in general on mac os 15.7 for me. some random crashes here and there just like with 14. I run Supervision on the controlroom so if Cubase is running Supervision is running.
The Mac OS 26.1 update broke / changed something in the displaying of graphics.
The previous version 26.0.1 didn’t have this issue
This affects Cubase 13-15 that I have tested.
Turning off gpu acceleration improves the freezes and lags but Cubase 15 gets additional graphics corruption and screen tearing. This doesn’t happen with Cubase 13/14.
I’ve seen reports of this affecting lots of other apps including switching mixer view in Logic.
From looking at Mac OS Beta discussion apparently this is being fixed in 26.2 which should release in December.
So I’m thinking either Steinberg will patch Cubase 15 to work around this or a Mac OS update will fix it.
Interesting. As a general rule (best practice), I never install the first MacOS updates for any new version because at the least, it will break my development environment. I’d rather have a stable system and working DAW than have all the latest MacOS features.
