Cubase 15 pro-severe latency, none with 14 pro

Hey all, I am using a Scarlet 2i2 interface which worked perfect until it didn’t. To get by I have to use Constrain delay. I’ve uninstalled and installed with the same results. I intend to do a teamviewer session sometime this week.

As I told support it works fine with 14 Pro and Reaper.

Your thoughts?

No help but I’m using a Scarlett 2i2 with no problems. Windows 11 Pro & Cubase Pro 15 up to date.

Have you selected the right driver. I’m guessing you have.

My thoughts are that if you see improvement using Constrain Delay, there’s probably at least one plug-in on the track that is introducing significant delay at that time. Any new plug-ins, or old ones that might need updating?

Thanks for your reply.
I’m so sorry, (old age) I didn’t include that I tested using a new file with a single track and plugin, each test was closed out and opened fresh with a different plugin with same results. As a matter of fact songs recorded in 15 played perfect in 14 with D/comp off, no latency.

Do you use control room? Plugins in the control room also add latency as they are always in the real time path.

Yes I do, but there are none in my projects nor in my tests.
Thanks anyway

If you have definitely selected the focusrite asio driver and have no plugins inline anywhere then I’m lost to why latency would be more in 15 than 14. Definitely not seeing that myself.

Yep, it was working fine until it didn’t. I had not recorded anything for a month back in January. I don’t recall any Mac updates during that time. Steinberg suggested some kind of Mac reset which is way above my pay grade. I still must do a team viewer session. Thank goodness it’s only my hobby

Delay compensation off means latency if you still use plugins.
Maybe you didn’t understand the constraint delay compensation switch?

Maybe I’m confused! Orange light on D/C in effect?

NO!

Constrain…

Not sure what you mean! I think if I say CDC (constrain delay compensation) should clear it up

This switch turns delay compensation off.

Thanks

Did you compare your studio settings in cubase 14 and 15 ? Which latencies are shown in these settings ?

Normally set at 256. No change at 128 or 64.

Thanks to all that assisted.

To “Fese”. I most definitely checked control room on the test files and no inserts. However, I checked one other file and noted the latency meter on the stereo out was out in the stratosphere of 79ms (ozone 9). For giggles, I also checked the control room inserts and lookie here, Ozone 9, I set it for no effect. The stereo out still showed 79ms and latency. I switched ozone to no effect and put back the same plugin, the meter dropped to 16ms no latency. I then checked all the other ones that was having an issue and they are now normal. I am at a loss how one file in the CR insert could affect the the other songs, including the test files with one piano and nothing in the CR insert.

I am now ecstatic it worked out.

I can’t see the benefit in having Ozone in the Control Room? Inserts in CR don’t have any effect on the final mixdown.

If you are using Ozone for mixing/mastering then you need to have it on a mix bus or stereo out (and you can bypass properly it using alt+Click until needed).

Thanks, not sure why it was put there in that one song. But lesson learned.
