After updating to Cubase 15, which I recently did, I started to have problems with UR44. Several autio dropouts and blurry sound. I still have Cubase 14 installed, and there it works better, although not perfect. My computor is quite new and with good performance, so I don´t think the problem lies there.
The platform on my computor is Windows 11, with latest updates. I have read many threads here at the forum reporting problems with Windows 11 and UR-series USB-drivers and understand that this might cause the problems. Though, it did work fine before installing Cubase 15 pro. So, I dont really get it.
I´ve also tried to remove UR-series tools, reinstall that and the drivers, but that did not do the trick.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks in advance!
It sounds like you’re experiencing audio dropouts with your UR44 after updating to Cubase 15. Here are some steps that could help resolve the issue:
Check UR44 Buffer Settings: Open your audio device settings in Cubase and try increasing the buffer size for the UR44. A larger buffer can help reduce dropouts, especially when using demanding plugins or tracking multiple channels.
ASIO Driver: Make sure you are using the correct ASIO driver for the UR44. Go to Devices > Device Setup, then select the UR44 under VST Audio System, and ensure it’s set to the UR44 driver and not a generic one.
Disable/Maximize Background Services: Set your computer’s power plan to High Performance and consider disabling any unnecessary background applications that might be using system resources. You can do this in the Task Manager.
Check USB Connection: Try connecting the UR44 to a different USB port, preferably a USB 3.0 port. Avoid using USB hubs, as they can introduce latency and instability.
Windows Audio Settings: Ensure that the Windows audio settings are configured to use your UR44. Go to Control Panel > Sound, and make sure the UR44 is set as the default playback and recording device.
Investigate Windows 11 Compatibility Settings: As you noted, there can be compatibility issues with Windows 11. Right-click the Cubase 15 icon, go to Properties > Compatibility, and try running it in compatibility mode for Windows 10.
Update Drivers and Firmware: Ensure that you have the latest firmware for your UR44. Visit the Steinberg website and download any available updates specifically for your audio interface and its drivers.
Disable Exclusive Mode: In the sound settings for the UR44 (Control Panel > Sound > UR44 Properties), go to the Advanced tab and uncheck “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device.”
Could you test your system by using LatencyMon utility, please?
I can tolerate audio dropouts, but what I can’t tolerate is when I am recording something (Audio/MIDI) and suddenly the recording stops when an audio dropout happens, is so bad.
You don’t have omnivocal active at all? I ask as it is very resource greedy. I can’t use it on my PC with the buffer sizes I usually use. If not is there anything else new?
