Cubase 15 Pro worked ok for a few days, now when I launch it, it does nothing at all

Cubase 15 Pro worked ok for a few days, now out of the blue when I launch it, it does nothing at all. I eventually have to go to task manager and kill it while it idles at ~13% cpu usage.
Weird thing is that Cubase 14 works ok.

By “Does nothing at all” I mean that nothing shows on screen.

I have tried:
-reinstalling everything (Everything from Steinberg)
-deleting everything related to Steinberg in ProgramFiles/ProgramData/AppData/Registry
-Uninstall/Reinstall Steinberg Download Assistant
-Uninstall/Reinstall Cubase 15, then it still doesn’t work…
-Tried checking if it would work in safe mode, same thing.

Anyone else having similar issues? Thanks in advance :slightly_smiling_face:

My specs: Windows 10 Pro(Latest), Intel i7-6700, 64Gb RAM, NVMe x 2, installed languages en-US

Hi, @EgM

Once you have installed Cubase 15, are you sure that it’s been activated ? I would check that with the Steinberg Activation manager, which will show the state of the different purchased Steinberg licences.

Do you see a splash (startup) screen somewhere?

Have you checked the Windows Event Viewer? Sometimes it contains useful information about application crashes.

Yeah, it’s activated in the Steinberg Activator and there is no splash screen or anything showing. Also there is nothing in Windows Event Viewer.

And since there is no crash from the process, there is no crash dump.

Happy to report that I’ve found the problem. Here’s the simple solution in case someone else runs into the same issue:

A recent update affected my Visual C++ runtime libraries, just downloading the MSVC redistributable package and reinstalling fixed the issue.

Yes. I had the same problem on one of my computers. On a Windows 10 Laptop… But I couldn’t get either C14 or C15 to get passed the Vst scanning thingy.

I just did the same, and installed the same Latest supported Visual C++ Redistributable downloads | Microsoft Learn

That fixed the issue also for me :slightly_smiling_face:
