What do you say Steinberg/Yamaha? How about an upgrade discount for long time loyal customers? I have v13. I’ve been using Cubase as a registered owner since 1995! ![]()

You already get one with the upgrade cost. If you stay connected via email and visit the forum regularly you will know how they work and when the sales happen
I would rather vote for a “retirement-discount”…
I mean, when living on a pension the income for some is extremely limited. So maybe free updates for people beyond 65 or 70?
Yes, yes, YES!

On a serious note, how do you define “loyal customer”?
A loyal customer is not necessarily someone that has updated/upgraded many times. A loyal customer can be someone that bought Cubase 20 years ago, and still uses that version, not having spent another penny for Steinberg products. That would be me, from 1992 to 2010. (My portastudio still worked and I used hardware synths and mixers (titchy ones).)
Or it could be someone that has bought every update/upgrade, year after year. That would be me, until this year.
Love your post ![]()
I will retire next year and my income will drop significantly. So to a degree, I am serious about the idea ;o)
I retired a few years ago, was never well off, and am also on a limited budget. Which why I usually wait for sales. I just think it would be difficult to implement, with too many imponderables.
You are perfectly right - I was not fully serious.
Actually the cubase update costs are not hard to provide. The thing I “fear” most is that some of my older gear might fail or no longer work with the software. This is where the investment is least protected. Just an example: I got the NI Komplete Kontrol S61 first release a couple of years ago. Now it still works, but there is no backward compatibility of the newer Software that comes with the MKII / MK3 of the hardware.
I also have some firewire-devices. Currently they still work after some research concerning Extension cards, etc.
We’ll see. ![]()
Woo hoooo glad this post has garnered so much attention. One thing we all have in common is that we think a discount would be nice. And I’m talking about a deeper discount than $199. Times are very hard for everyone, well, almost everyone (the technocrats and their investors are flying high as they colonize the world hahaha). I personally am asking for a deeper discount. Yall have a great day. I know I will.
Cubase 15 for me would cost £83, based on a full price of £481. That’s a discount of £398. Not bad.
The only reason I’m not upgrading is because I think 15 is really just 14.5, and so I consider it to be a rip off. That’s my opinion, and it’s my cash.
There is a loyalty discount of 40% every summer sale so far for all users…
And again, if money’s tight, you can do the old “buy the upgrade in the summer sale and don’t use the download access code until the next major version is released in (usually) November”. Even more discount…
