Project Previews and Test Signal not playing in Hub. I’m at a loss here, everything else makes sound where it’s supposed to. Anyone else?
My usual audio driver settings are the same and work within each project as expected.

Hello Quadrod,
i have the same problem. Du you have already solved this issue?
Can you please provide me how to do?
There is no preview icon. Did you actually have Cubase create a preview of the project?
I am not pretty shure. Can you please shortly explain how to check it and how to do cubase to show me pre listening botton?
Load a project first. Then look at the bottom of the Project menu. There is an item for creating Previews.
You can create a preview manually there or instruct Cubase to create one every time you save the project. Either chose to have the preview created from the current playhead cursor position or have Cubase create it from the middle of the project.
Thx. I got it.
Ok I was really happy to hear Steinberg reinvented the hub. I wanted folders so I didn’t have just an entire list of “Ebb & Flow ALL DELETED REIMPORTED WITH MIDI FINAL 16”
I just wanted it to have folders you could go into and then click a button that says “most recent” and if the backup file is the most recent then that would be the top of the list….you know reasonably simple stuff , just tidy and more functional.
What we have here now with this new hub is garbage. It’s utterly awful. I’m starting a new project and you’re not going to promt me where it’s going to be created? I have to go into a menu and change it when it was right there to begin with with the old hub.
Having the templates on the same screen in a strangely scrolling short list is weird also.
Scanning directories takes forever if it doesn’t just crash. the preview thing is great but I have ZERO previews because we need to manually create them (understandable, fine)
I wanted it to scan my Cubase Projects folder and within that hopefully scan “Projects 2014” and “Projects 2021” etc….It just doesn’t work as you would hope.
I hate it. It’s would have the old one back in a heartbeat.
You have some control over these features in the “Hub Settings.”
If you don’t want to use a default location and have Cubase ask you for a folder upon creation like C14 did, then uncheck “Use Default Location.”
If you don’t want the templates showing, then uncheck Templates in the Project and User Locations menu section, or just collapse the Templates disclosure arrow. You can add any number of paths you want enumerated there as well, and even disable ones you don’t want shown without deleting the entry.
Like you, I also want lots of flexibility in project management, and I think the new Hub is a great start. I love that if I select “Use Default Location” all new projects are completely contained in their own incremental project folders by default. This is wonderful for me, and I’ve already started depending on the functionality.
Others have asked for changes in this overall structure; one I think would be helpful is to mirror the Use Default Location checkbox to the main hub window, potentially between the Cubase 15 logo and the Audio Driver section so that if I know I’m creating an empty project I want somewhere else, I can just de-select that option there so the Create Empty function then prompts for a folder location while making the parameter setting change obvious for next time.
The documentation could also be better, particularly with UI changes around Preview controls (e.g. you can’t Test or select outputs if Control Room is active).
I would encourage you to work with these options a bit, and then potentially offer some detailed feature requests that may help others. I get you “hate it,” but that’s not really actionable by anyone (SB or forum users). It can only get better, and feedback may help. I have no doubt we’ll see some changes to the UI quite soon based on user feedback; as such I try to stay positive and provide helpful suggestions ![]()
Yeah I get it. my beef is with the general layout, its a step backward from before.
I can’t get my uber Cubase Project folder to be scanned and organised like it is in Finder withn the Hub
I always use a default folder but I want on a surface level to be able to type the folder it goes into before.
I very much run on inspiration and sometimes , most time it’s a race against time before I forget an idea so I open cubase, type in “pot plant” and probably select a basic starting template and we’re off….
Here I’ve got about 3 projects in the “Eat01” folder ![]()
I just needs to be better…..it’s worse.
I’ve done all that, and yet I still don’t hear a preview when I press the play icon. I can hear everything normally within the project itself.
And I don’t have the “test” Icon, to test the Project-pre-audio-function, in the right of the audiodriver field in the HUB. I did an upgrade from 14 Pro to 15 Pro… Steinberg UR 22 Interface works without a problem in the projekt itself.
If the Control Room is activated and more channels than the basic Monitor output are defined in the audio connections (e.g. further Monitors; or Cues, Phones, Ext. Input, Talkback), the Play Test Signal icon will not appear in the hub.
I don’t think, that Control Room is activated. Never worked with it and in the Control Room Window no Channels are selected…
Could you please post screenshots of your Outputs and Control Room tabs in the Audio Connections window? Create an empty project, since Audio Connections are project-dependent.
I’m the OP of this post.
Annoyingly, mine started working on it’s own. I couldn’t even tell you what changed in my system or Cubase to make it suddenly work. ![]()
Congratulations on getting things back on track, and sorry for hijacking your post… ![]()
Exactly … and you have defined more channels than the basic Monitor output => No Play Test Signal icon. ![]()
Thank you very much. That solved it ![]()
