Cubase 4.5.2 Exported wav + mp3 differ in length.

Hi,

I use C4.5.2, to export 192kbit, 44.100khz mp3 samples to the director of a film I am working on.
When he is happy with the sample I forward on the main mix as a 24 bit 48 khz wav file.

I have looked closely at the length of a exported mp3 file and wav file.

In my eyes these 2 files should be identical in length but they are not.

The wav file read: 00:03:37:238
The mp3 file read: 00:03:37:286

I know it’s only a small time difference but why does this happen?

Any ideas?

Many thanks in advance…

I’m afraid I don’t have an answer for you, but I heard this before.
Here’s someone with a similar problem:

Thanks for that link HornForHire, I see it’s way back in 2005.

I thought there might have been an accurate mp3 converter out by now.

Any thoughts Steinberg about Cubase, and why it makes exported file formats differ slightly in length?
