Yesterday evening by accident I opened a file created with Cubase 6.0.2 in Cubase 5.5.3.
4 instrument tracks showed an - expected - failure notice “HalionSonic SE could not be found” so I replaced the sounds by the same from HalionOne.
Hence in this simple midi setup - in contrast to Steinberg’s compatibility sheet - forward compatible between Cubase 5.5.3 and Cubase 6.0.2 is given.
Hello unifaun,
I would not trust on that to much.
Cheers,
Chris
It is clear that this “phenomenon” does not at all mean full file compatibility which could be guaranteed by a software company such as Steinberg.
Especially when intensive usage of FX and the new features of C 6 comes into play this won’t work any longer.
But in my case it is however useful for me.
I was always thinking that files created with C 6 could never be opened in C 5 and that is not the case.
