CUBASE 5 CRASHING / MIDI

I’m using an iMac OS X 10.8.5 connected to a MOTI MIDI Expres128
I’m running CUBASE 5 Software

When I connect my ROLAND XV2020 module, CUBASE 5 crashes before I can record MIDI

Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Thanks
