hello, I’m new to the forum. I have serious problems with Cubase 6.5.3/32 Bit/OSX on crashing my system recently - like every 10 to 15 minutes. Can somebody please point me to where I can find the crash log that seems to be somewhere? I simply couldn’t find it.
I only use their “stable” releases… and I think 6.5.4 is still prerelease, right? Also, in the beginning my Cubase 6.5.3 was stable, the crashes developed over time, and now it’s also after complete reinstall.
After reading a lot into crash logs, It seems all crashes are happening here and the last six looked like this:
6.5.4 came out back in September, 2012 (~7 mos.) and many, many people have been using it very successfully since then (I can’t count the number of posts I have read about people trying to use C7 and commenting on how stable 6.5 is for them). That being said, if 6.5.3 was fine for you before, then it must be something on your system that has changed. OS updates, interface driver update, new plug-ins, plug-in updates, hard drive getting full or fragmented, etc. I wish I could be of more help than that.
J.L.
Not only is 6.5.4 not officially supported, it only brought 3 issues to conclusion, which didn’t interest me (finetuning in Prologue, some Mac issue and BFW headers). No reason for me to go unsupported.
BTW, the very fact that 6.5.4 has been around already for more than a half year means that it’s about time the final 6.5.5 came out! As for the original issue here; can’t add much help to what jaslan already brought up…
The only thing I can suggest is that you look at whatever plugins or instruments you may have installed since it became unstable.
After the week I have had, I am starting to become convinced that Gremlins are real. Random things can happen for no apparent reason.
For example…The VSTi BFD2 suddenly and inexplicably decided that it would only recognise and load the 32bit version in my system, which is running a 64bit OS and 64bit Cubase, and this caused all sorts of crazy stuff to happen…Audio artefacts on line in channels, crazy ASIO buffer overloads etc. all because it had loaded the 32bit BFD2 through VST Bridge.
It took me a good while to figure out what was happening. Very frustrating!
Other than that, try reinstalling your audio interface drivers and make sure that they are up to date.
