Cubase 6.5 clicks, pops and audio dropouts

I’m trying to find out if this is a known issue.

I’m on OSX 10.6.8
Ever since I installed Cubase 6.5 I get an audio click or pop (sometime fairly loud) whenever I press play or stop.
Also sometimes when I press play eventhough the cursor moves it takes the audio a few seconds to sound. Then often it will drop out agin for another another second before it all plays properly.

I checked all drivers and settings and nothing has changed since vesion 6.

I should add that I noticed that it must have something to do with reading from hardrives as everytime when I move the cursor while the song is playing the cubase disk performance indicator goes into red and stays there for a few seconds during which i get the dropouts.

I’m a bit slow today and keep forgetting to add important info:

  • There are no plugins in this session. Just audio tracks, about 20 of them.

  • On Cubase 5.5.3 the session runs fine without any clicks on start / stop, there is no disk caching going into the red and no audio dropouts so its not my system or my hardrive but Cubase 6.5 that causes those problems.

Has no one else got these disk caching problems??

At the moment I got Cubase 6.5 sitting here and cant use it while I have to use Cubase 5.5

Are there any settings I can make that matches the performance of Cubase 6.5 to Cubase 5.5.?

Maybe it’s your buffer settings…

Yes, try switching drivers and cranking latency up to 2048 samples.
