Cubase 7.5 NSException OSX crash after Cubase 12 install

Dear Cubase friends,

My father is having an issue with his Cubase 7.5. on OSX. He is running a Mac Pro mid 2010 on OSX 10.13. for several reasons he still need this version.

I convinced him to upgrade to C12 which he did. But after installing everything, Cubase 12 doesn’t even run because his system is too old… (to get him to upgrade osx is another topic)

However, now when he tries to open Cubase 7.5 (latest version) it keeps crashing while starting up. I tried from a distance to reinstall it, ditch the prefs, boot on safe mode, uninstall C12 and the Steinberg Center… nothing works. I keep getting this log (see below).

Anyone has a clue ? It is pretty urgent as he is currently working on a film score. I hope to sort this issue…

Cheers !

Hi,

I’m sorry, Cubase 12 is not compatible with macOS 10.x.

But this crash comes from Cubase 7.5. Padshop is crashing there. Probably the plug-in was updated with Cubase 12 (if you installed it) and this plug-in version is also not compatible with macOS 10.x.

As Martin pointed out, you have to go back to the Padshop version that came with Cubase 7.5. If that version had already this plug-in. You can find the current one in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Steinberg/Padshop.vst3. Delete this file and reinstall Cubase 7.5 to get the original back.
