Cubase 7.5 on Big Sur?

I’m a Windows user. My friend sold me his 2016 macbook pro.

I’ve spent two days trying to get my Cubase 7.5 (full version) running on this macbook. Have my dongle plugged into the other USB-C to USB-A dongle.

Have also tried the Steinberg Application Assistant Tool.
When opening it says “Cubase quit unexpectedly”. With options to Reopen, Report or Ignore.

They say that MacOS is intuitive, but Windows simply works, …even when you upgrade from Windows 95 to Windows 10.

In the elicenser app, when i try to run maintenance tasks:
“A connection to the license server could not be established.”

To answer my own question, according to the downloads page, apparently 10.10 Yosemite was the last compatible Mac OS for Cubase 7.5.

That’s a shame. Was considering the move to Mac, but seems very unlikely now.

It gets worse.

So i tried Cubase Elements 11 through the download manager, and that wouldnt install either. Glad i didnt fork out for the update.

As much as i dislike Apple’s software implementation policy, I think i’ll be forced to move to Logic.

Apple Mac OS is not an engineering OS, it’s a user experience OS.

Logic is shat, if you are thinking about moving from Cubase to Logic… then you have not gone deep enough into Cubase., and switching a DAW isn’t going to do anything for you.

I would sell that macbook and save the money towards building a new PC.

The Steinberg license server is down at the moment which is why nothing is wotking.
