Cubase 7.5 won't restart after closing

Everytime that I close Cubase 7.5.2 it will not re-open again unless I reboot my entire PC. If I check in Task Manager it shows that Cubase is running as a background service but the program never actually opens. If I re-boot it then will open fine. It is a real pain having to reboot everytime I close Cubase.

  1. Close Cubase 7.5.2
  2. Click to re-open Cubase
  3. Cubase does not start
  4. Check Task Manager and it shows Cubase running as a background service

I have tried reinstalling but it did not help. I am running Windows 8.1 and I am using a Steinberg UR28M as my hardware.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Jason

How long do you wait from closing down to restarting Cubase ?
Are you sure Cubase is closed, check task manager before opening Cubase again.

I have waited a long time. It doesn’t seem to matter how long I wait, once I close it it just won’t re-open until I reboot my system.

Yes, I always check the task manager and it shows that Cubase is closed.

Very strange and annoying behaviour.

Ok, so I seem to have resolved the problem. I had recently updated to Windows 8.1 but had overlooked the need to update my Bios. As soon as I did that it seems to have rectified the problems. I can now open and close Cubase as many times as needed. Also Wavelab 8.5 Watch folders seem to be getting along better with Cubase also. For a while Cubase would not open properly if a watch folder was running in the background.

Everything seems to be resolved now.
