Cubase 8.05 freezes when removing + adding Mackie Control

Hi,

Cubase 8.05 freezes (Not Responding) when used with Behringer BCF2000 (in Mackie Control mode), following the following process (on a Windows 8.1 64bit machine):

  1. Turn on Behringer BCF2000 (connected on USB, set up in Mackie Control emulation mode)
  2. Open Cubase, open a project
  3. Open Devices->Device Setp, add (+) “Mackie Control”. Behringer BCF2000 should now work, e.g. allow you to change volume on the tracks.
  4. Turn off Behringer BCF2000.
  5. Turn On Behringer BCF2000. Now Cubase does not recognise the device.
  6. Open Devices, remove (-) the Mackie Control. Then Add (+) Mackie Control and Cubase freezes.

Once Cubase freezes, I can only force close it using Windows Task Manager.

Has this been reported before?

Would be grateful if Steinberg addressed this, to allow adding MIDI controllers after Cubase has been started.

Thank you.

I am having this issue as well in Windows 7. The BCF is visible but it is not working. THEN Cubase freezes on Mackie Control during start up.

Hello,

Would be grateful if Steinberg addressed this, to allow adding MIDI controllers after Cubase has been started.

This is not an issue but a feature request. On Pc you should always connect and turn on all your MIDI controllers before starting Cubase.
It is already on the list.

Best regards,
GN

It is a feature request when somebody wishes that the software does not freeze ???

Hello,

Cubase recognising a MIDI controller after it has started is. Users should not disconnect the controllers once the application is running.
It is something that has not been programmed yet, therefore it is considered a feature request. It is also a problem unique to some systems it does not happens an all.

Best regards,
GN
