I just performed the update to 8.5.20 Build 169 (64 bit), and now when I load old (or new projects), the track controls are not rendering.
The project(s) still work and play, but I am forced to use the control panel on the far left, which has impacted my workflow. Any ideas?

Follow up on this, I found that by deleting my default preferences and from AppData and letting the app re-initialise them the problem went away.
